Berwick Custom Home

This Berwick Residence was the culmination of many years discussion with the client. Fully designed and documented by Architect Stephan Kosa, the home of Greg and Tacy Lindsay was designed to work within the environs.

The execution of this design was after a competitive tender, completed fully by Anderson homes in a time scale of less than 12 months. The 750m² home is multi-level and incorporated outbuildings, pool and extensive landscaping both hard and soft. The home incorporated the latest that technology could provide, encompassing over $100k of hi-tech hardware throughout the home.

Soaring cathedral ceilings great you as you enter this home and then you have a choice of either alighting some stairs to the parent’s wing with full ensuite, dressing room and office with private balconies or taking a different direction and alighting separate stairs to the children’s wing with their own bathroom and commanding views. The main family room, kitchen and entertainment areas are below the children’s wing which then opens out to a commanding deck and large swimming pool that also has its own entertainment wing and wet bar.

The home incorporates no less than two double garages with their own entries, large stormwater storage facilities and solar power to a gymnasium and cellar.

The house was complex enough and with the overall scope of works as noted above to be completed in such a time frame Anderson homes ensured that a site manager was present throughout the process ensuring timely deadlines were made and facilitating access for the owners to enter their grand home prior to Christmas.

The design of the home encompassed the wishes of the client who had very exacting requirements of special areas. The site had sweeping views to the west and south west, however, the concept was to maximise the energy efficiency of the home whilst also encapsulating the views. The overall design ensured that the overall footprint stayed close to terra firma so that excavation was kept to a minimum.

The home was designed to flow and provide its occupants with the enjoyment of space and to enjoy the commanding views whilst enjoying privacy and harmony within. The home flows from one living space to another, whilst providing connectivity to all occupants. A variety of materials were utilised to accentuate various areas and to break up the overall expanse of a 750m² home.

The completed result was as expected from the original 3d views that were presented to the client almost 18 months earlier.
